As we head to North Carolina for the semiannual High Point Market Furniture Market, our hearts and minds linger heavily just westward, with Asheville and each of the Blue Ridge communities impacted so greatly by Hurricane Helene.

Over the years, we have been fortunate to work with artists and tradespeople who call Asheville their home. The loss of both life and legacy here is unfathomable. The devastation is a stark reminder of how climate change has exacerbated such unprecedented events. Climate justice is urgent and imperative.

While we continue to await updates on how Hurricane Helene has impacted our Asheville-based fulfillment and production centers, we want to emphasize that despite the challenges we face, we are profoundly grateful for our health and well-being. Solidarity with impacted families across the Southeast is what truly matters right now.

We encourage everyone to support on-the-ground, grassroots initiatives working tirelessly to aid in recovery efforts. These are a few NC-specific groups doing wonderful work: @wckitchen @belovedasheville @_roar_wnc

They say eclipses bring change, and we have a few exciting transitions of our own to share… 🌙

Adelene Simple Cloth is currently in a transitional period, carefully evaluating how we can continue to deliver the highest quality products at competitive prices, all while upholding our unwavering commitment to preservation of artisan technique and workplace ethics.

This past February, founder Darva spent an extended period traveling throughout Southern India, immersing herself in generations of meticulously-honed textile manufacturing. From intricate hand looms and state of the art power looms, to time-proven dyeing methods and a hands-on lesson in yarn spinning, Darva delved deep into the heart of the craft. It was a journey rife with inspiration, and one that deeply influenced our vision for the future.

We are thrilled to share that Adelene is forging new partnerships with incredible mill partners. These mills boast their own cut and sew divisions, ensuring that every step of the manufacturing process aligns with our commitment to quality and ethics. Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing a bit more about these processes and how our partnerships intersect with our ongoing values of conscientious production and textile history.

As we navigate this blossoming period, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your continued support and patience.
